AUG. 2, 1937 - DEC. 13, 2008


Unexpectedly Angels come into our lives and as unexpectedly they leave us.
On Saturday, December 13, 2008 God called our angel Roy Gottfried Wild, 71 of Pensacola and Canton Ohio home.
Roy was born in Canton Ohio to the late Roy F. and Verda Wild and resided there most of his life. He graduated from Lincoln High School in 1955 and continued on to receive his professional degree in Civil Engineering from Ohio Northern University in 1960. He retired from the Ohio Department of Transportation in 1996 with 36 years of service. Roy also developed many communities in the Canton area.
Roy had two passions in life antique automobiles and trains. He was lifetime members of the Rolls Royce Owners Club, Classic Car Club of America, Antique Automobile Club of America, and Train Collectors Association.
Roy was preceded in death by his mother Verda Wild, father Roy F. and Janet Wild.
Roy is survived by his wife Cathy Woods-Wild, his son Scott G Wild, Columbia, SC and his four legged children Boo and Bashful.
Roy was born an only child but was blessed with wonderful in-laws, which he considered his family. Mother-in-law Ruby Woods, Pensacola, Brother and Sisters-in-law: Al and Betty Neifert, Canton, Margie and Ned Wright, Canton; Connie and Rip Pollock, Helen and Dan Miller, Pat and Arthur Beaver, Teresa Barnett, Carl Woods all from Pensacola; Carlette Woods and Kim Kulig of Houston, Texas. Roy enjoyed his nieces and nephews, Bobby and Qianhui Neifert, Hudson, Ohio; Laura and Gordon Owens, Canton Ohio; Brian and Amy Neifert, Toledo , Ohio; Charles Brahier, Clint Beaver, Ashley (DJ) Barnett, Tiffany (Patrick) Cayton, Bobby Miller, Ryan Miller, Tracie (Ryan) Miller all of Pensacola.
Roy had two long time friends he has known, Roger Dent; Canton, Ohio since the age of four and Les Raye and Ann Thomas of Canton.
Pallbearers will be his nephews: Charles Brahier, Clint Beaver, DJ Meloy, Patrick Cayton, Ryan Miller, Ryan McNally and David Fabbiani. Honorary Pallbearers: Dan Miller, Al Neifert, Chris Taylor and Roger Dent.
The Visitation will be held Friday, December 19, 2008 at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home Chapel beginning at 12pm. The Funeral Service will be immediately following at 1pm. The burial will be held at Rock Cemetery in Robertsdale, Alabama. Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home will be handling all arrangements.
Thank You Lord for bringing Roy into our lives... We are all so much the better for having known him. He will be truly missed.
