CHICAGO -- Cheryl Lynn Osborne, 55, formerly of Muscatine, died Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2003, at Kindred Hospital, Chicago.
Memorial services are 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 18, in the Community Room of Wayland City Hall. Instead of flowers the family asks that friends bring a small token of remembrance to be used in a memory collage display.
She was born April 23, 1948.
Ms. Osborne, then Cheryl Howard, worked for many years at Neilsen Clearing House, and later at Muscatine Community College.
Survivors include a daughter, Tina Heightchew and husband Christopher; two granddaughters, Myra and Frances; two brothers, Ralph Jr. of Brighton and Robert of Davenport; and many nephews, nieces, and 'adopted' daughters everywhere.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph Osborne and Beulah McAvoy Osborne.

WEST LIBERTY, Iowa - Keli Gricelda Oseguera, 24, of West Liberty, died Sunday, September 21, 2008, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident on Interstate 80 in Coralville.
Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. on Friday, September 26, 2008, at the Club JT’s, 1009 N. Elm, West Liberty. Burial will be at the Oak Ridge Cemetery in West Liberty.

Ms. Oseguera was born January 5, 1984, in Honduras.
She moved with her family to West Liberty at the age of 5. She graduated from West Liberty High School in 2002.

WAPELLO, Iowa -- John F. Osika, 93, of Wapello, died Sunday, April 8, 2001, at the Wapello Nursing and Care Center.
Services will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home at Wapello. The Rev. Chris Thomas will officiate. Burial will be at the Wapello Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1-6 p.m. Tuesday at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home.
Mr. Osika was born on July 9, 1907, in Chicago, the son of George and Julia Klich Osika.
He was a resident of Wapello for 7 years. He farmed in the Letts area and lived in the Chicago area where he worked as a steel worker.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He enjoyed cats along with tractors, plants, and gardening. He appreciated the pets that came to visit at the care facility and the volunteers that read to him. He enjoyed watching television, especially sports.
Survivors include a sister, Helen Cicenas of Chicago and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, and five sisters.

MUSCATINE, Iowa - Deanna I. Ostrander, 67, Muscatine, died Thursday, April 5, 2007, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.
The Rev. Lloyd Mansfield will officiate services.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Following the services a time of food and fellowship will be held in the Community Room at the Geo. M. Wittich-Lewis Home for Funeral and Cremation Services.

Deanna Imogene DeLap was born on Feb. 26, 1940, in Davenport, the daughter of Willard and Sylvia Allen (Burnette) DeLap. She was a member of the Eagles and the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed knitting, playing cards and especially loved to read.
Deanna will be deeply missed by her son, Robert Ostrander of Muscatine; her daughter Christina Suhl of Muscatine; three grandchildren, Ronald, Lester and Aric Suhl; two great-grandchildren, Tyrone and Tyrese Suhl; and one sister Terri Brady and her husband, Tony of West Liberty.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and three brothers, Kenny Martin, James DeLap and Wayne DeLap.

RADCLIFFE, Iowa -- Hazel M. Ostrem, 83, Radcliffe, died Friday, May 2, 2003, at the Israel Family Hospice House, Ames, after a brief illness.
Services were 10:30 a.m. today at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Radcliffe.
Visitation was Monday at Boeke Funeral Home, Radcliffe.
Mrs. Ostrem was born on Jan. 25, 1920, in rural Radcliffe, the daughter of Walter A. and Mary Friest Anderson. She married Franklin K. Ostrem on Nov. 26, 1943.
She was baptized as an infant at Zion Lutheran Church, rural Radcliffe, and affirmed her baptism through confirmation at Our Savior's Lutheran Church.
She graduated from Radcliffe High School, Radcliffe, in 1937; attended Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls, for one year; and then taught school in rural Hamilton and Hardin counties for several years.
She and her husband lived north of Radcliffe for 23 years and then moved to a farm south of Radcliffe where they lived for another 10 years. In 1977, they moved to their home at 401 East St., Radcliffe. She was the secretary for Ostrem Farms Inc. until her death.
Her marriage was a strong partnership and she devoted herself to providing a comfortable home for her family. She enjoyed embroidery and making quilts and was an avid reader.
She was an active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church. She taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School for many years, held various offices in the women's organizations, served on the Altar Guild and participated in the quilting group. She was a member of the Needle Circle and a past member of the Garden Club. When her children were in school, she was active in the Band Boosters and other school activities.
Survivors include her husband; three sons, Gary Ostrem and his wife, Renee, of Waterloo, Richard Ostrem and his wife, Nancy, of Radcliffe and Paul Ostrem and his wife, Carol, of Muscatine; nine grandchildren; four great-grandsons; a brother, Carroll Anderson of Story City; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Reuben and Obed Anderson; two sisters, Agnes Anderson and Marian Orton; and two nephews, Roger Anderson and Eugene Orton.

RADCLIFFE, Iowa - Franklin Ostrem, 86, Radcliffe, died suddenly Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006, at his home.
Burial will be at Radcliffe Cemetery, Radcliffe.
Mr. Ostrem was born July 26, 1920, in rural Radcliffe, the fourth child of Swen Martin and Rose Jane Larson Ostrem. He married Hazel M. Anderson on Nov. 26, 1943. She preceded him in death in 2003.
He was baptized as an infant at Stavanger Lutheran Church, Garden City, and affirmed his baptism through confirmation at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Radcliffe. He graduated from Radcliffe High School in 1938 and immediately entered his lifetime vocation of farming.
He and his wife lived north of Radcliffe for 23 years and then moved to a farm south of Radcliffe where they lived for another 10 years. In 1977, they moved to their home at 401 East Street when their son, Richard, entered the farming operation with Ostrem Farms Inc. He loved the land, was a good farmer and could spot a cocklebur or button weed at 40 rods. He stayed active in farming until two years before his death.
He served his community as a member of Radcliffe City Council, Hardin County Extension Council, Farmers Co-op Elevator board as secretary, the Hubbard-Radcliffe Area Foundation Board, Radcliffe Kiwanis Club and by being a 4-H leader. He was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church and served as an usher, trustee and deacon. He enjoyed bowling, golf, visiting with friends and spending time with his family.
Survivors include three sons, Gary Ostrem and wife Renee of Waterloo, Richard Ostrem and wife Nancy of Radcliffe and Paul Ostrem and wife Carol of Muscatine; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Arnold Ostrem of Radcliffe; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; three brothers, John, Robert and Virgil Ostrem; and a sister, Lenore Tweet.

MUSCATINE, Iowa - Michael L. Othmer, 65, of Muscatine, died early Sunday morning, October 9, 2005, at his home.
Memorial Service will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 12, 2005, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend Sharon Phillips of the Jesus Mission will officiate the service. Burial will be in the Soldiers Section of Greenwood Cemetery with Military Rites provided by the combined squads of the American Legion Post 27 and the V.F.W. Post 1565. A time of food and fellowship will be held at the V.F.W. Post 1565 following the committal service.
Michael was born on April 8, 1940, in Muscatine, the son of George and Edith Long Othmer.
He graduated from Columbus High School, Columbus, Ohio, in 1958.
Mike served in the U.S. Army for 13 years from June of 1958 until July of 1972. He was a very devoted V.F.W. member and served as commander of Post 1565. Mike also worked at the V.F.W. for Bingo nights.
Mike was a member of the National Rifle Association, American Legion, and a past member of the Moose Lodge No. 388.
Survivors include an uncle, La Mar Long of Albuquerque, New Mexico, several cousins; and a special friend and neighbor, Chris Day. He will be sadly missed by all V.F.W. members and cousin Mary Jane Fridley.
He was preceded in death by his parents, maternal and paternal grandparents and one brother, Richard Othmer.

DYERSVILLE, Iowa - Angela M. Ottesen, 47, of Dyersville, died Saturday, October 4, 2008, in the comfort of her family after a year long battle with a brain tumor.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m. on Wednesday October 8, 2008, at New Hope Lutheran Church, 502 Second Ave SW, Farley. Rev. Burton Everist will officiate. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery in Dyersville.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, October 7, 2008, and before the service Wednesday, at the Kramer Fuenral Home, 103 Fifth Street SW, Dyersville.
Angela was born May 26, 1961, in Muscatine, the daughter of Robert and Elizabeth Plowman Tompkins. She married Kevin D. Ottesen on April 11, 1987, in Columbus Junction.
She graduated from Columbus Junction High School in 1979.
She and Kevin moved to Fort Dodge, where she earned her medical assistant and CNA degrees at Iowa Central Community College. They moved to Dyersville in 2000, and became active with Mercy Medical Center and its Auxiliary.
She will be fondly remembered as a good mother and wife by her family and as an active member of her church community.
She is survived by her husband, Kevin Ottesen of Dyersville; two sons, Daniel (Cindy Klaren) and Nicholas Graves, both of Dyersville; a daughter, Felicity Ottesen of Dyersville, a grandson, Caydon Graves; her father, Robert Tompkins of Centerville; a brother, Randy (Carol) Tompkins of Grandview; two sisters, DeAnn (Martin) Torres of Hills, and Robin (Brad) Spurgeon of Centerville; her grandmother, Erma Plowman of Letts; parents-in-law, Kenneth and Janet Ottesen of Decorah, three sisters-in-law, Kimberly (Jim) Giardino of Ames, Karen (Dan) Drake of Kansas City, Missouri, Kristi (Steve) Haynes of Spingfield, Missouri; and several uncles, aunts, cousins and nieces and nephews.

Mr. Otto was born Nov. 3, 1920, in Scott County, the son of William and Minnie Martens Otto. He married Velma May Turner Aug. 8, 1942, in Kahoka, Mo. She preceded him in death June 15, 1995.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1942-1945 attached to the 603rd Bomb Squadron.
He was worked for CT Schact, Durant, and JM Manufacturing, Wilton, retiring in 1982.
He enjoyed playing the accordion and polka music.
Survivors include three daughters, Rita Broders and husband, Frank of Wilton, Mary Clark and husband, Richard of Centerville and Janice Day and husband, Terry of Punta Gorda, Fla.; three sons, Gene Otto and wife, Sue of Durant, Jeff Otto and friend, Wendy of Solon and Dick Otto and wife, Julie of Durant; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

MUSCATINE, Iowa -- Marjorie Louise Otto, 79, Muscatine, died Saturday, April 30, 2005, at her home.
The Rev. Harlan W. Winter will officiate the services. Casket bearers are Lance Garner, Laramie Garner, Dave Sparks, and Raymond Kimball. Hunter Embry is the honorary bearer.
There will be no public viewing or visitation. After the services, the family will gather with friends at the home of Pete and Dot Kerr at 1183 U.S. Highway 61 just south of Newport corner. A memorial fund has been established for the American Cancer Society. The Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello, is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Otto was born April 5, 1926, in Morning Sun, the daughter of Rex and Ruby Herr Kerr. She married Junior Otto Feb. 26, 1949, in Morning Sun.
She was a homemaker and enjoyed baking, her flowers, and doing crafts. She had been a member of the Moose Lodge, Muscatine, and had also served on the Board of Directors at the Muscatine Community Workshop.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Wendy Otto of Muscatine and Linda Kimball and husband Raymond of Illinois City, Ill.; three grandchildren, Lisa Embry and Dave Sparks, Lance and Tammy Garner, and Laramie Garner and Becky Nichols; three great-grandchildren, Jacee Christensen, Hunter Embry, and Jaden Garner; two sisters, Beverly Wolfe and husband Neil of Davenport and Norma Jean Hostetter of Yarmouth; and two brothers, Merle 'Pete' Kerr and wife Dorothy of Wapello and Robert 'Bob' Kerr and wife Carol of Mediapolis.

WEST LIBERTY, Iowa - Billy B. Otto, 84, died suddenly Friday Jan. 26, 2007, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Following the visitation at the funeral home, a Christian wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
The Rev. Dennis Martin will officiate. Graveside services with military honors will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 30 in Port Louisa Cemetery, rural Wapello. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
Mr. Otto was born Nov. 21, 1922, in Burlington, the son of Louis and Alyce Butler Otto. He was a graduate of Wapello High School in 1940 and attended Quincy Business College. He was a veteran of World War II, serving with the U.S. Army. On Oct. 26, 1947, he married Arlene Walker in Wapello.
He was employed as a mail carrier, in the insurance business and most recently, at REC in Wilton, until his retirement. He had also owned the Dairy Sweet in West Liberty for several years.
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Mansell Phillips American Legion Post No. 509 in West Liberty.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mary Ann (John) Adams of Willoughby, Ohio and Theresa Jarvis and her fiance, Scott Perkins, of West Branch; one son, James Otto and his significant other, Denise Scarff, of Wayland, Iowa; five grandchildren, Tyler Adams, Sam Perkins, Ashtin Otto, Ashley Adams and Austin Otto; and one nephew, Richard Booth of Olathe, Kan.

Mrs. Oveson was born May 20, 1921, at Geneseo, Ill., the daughter of Frank and Catherine Bailey Ingram. She married Thomas E. Kelly in 1938, in Muscatine. She later married Rex A. Oveson in 1961, in Aledo, Ill.
She had worked as a nurse's aide at Muscatine Care Center and Muscatine General Hospital prior to retirement
Survivors include four sons, Thomas M. Kelly and his wife, Ellie, of Sacramento, Calif., Daniel J. Kelly of Muscatine, Michael F. Kelly and his wife, Jacque, of Manteo, N.C. and Joseph P. Mrs. Ovesen was born on Oct. 5, 1922, in Hazeltown, the daughter of Edward and Viola Brant Wells. She married Leo Meincke on Oct. 16, 1943, in Davenport. He preceded her in death on April 4, 1977. She later married Dale Ovesen on Nov. 10, 1979, in Durant. He preceded her in death in 1985.
She was a member of the Durant Royal Neighbors, Pythion Sisters, Durant Senior Citizens and various card clubs.
Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn Gronewoldt and her husband, Ralph, of Donahue; two sons, Wayne Meincke and his wife, Rose, of Durant and Gary Meincke and his wife, Karen, of Walcott; two sisters, Velma Pasvogel and her husband, Kenneth, of Wilton and Eulala Nordruft and her husband, Raymond, of The Dells, Ore.; two brothers, Willard Wells and his wife, Gladys, of Walcott and Freddie Wells and his wife, Levonne, of Blue Grass; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Mr. Ovesen was born Nov. 16, 1922, to Jacob and Anna Eriksen Ovesen in Scott County. He married Leila F. Otto on Sept. 4, 1943, in Davenport.
He farmed in Scott County his entire life. He loved the farm and continued to work there until last June.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Wilton and the Scott County Farm Bureau. He volunteered for many years with the Durant Polka Fest Committee.
Serving as casket bearers will be Scott Wolf, Todd Schwarz, Jeff Hoffman, Gary Wiese, Joe Vastine, and Tom Caes.
Interment will take place at the Durant Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Leila Ovesen; a son, Wayne Ovesen, and his friend Lucy Meyer of Durant; a sister, Amanda Vastine of Davenport; two granddaughters, Lori Gamble of Walcott and Susan Suhr and husband Brad of Davenport and three great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Owen was born on March 8, 1923, in Orleans, Neb., the daughter of Edward and Etta Shroder Keslar. She married Jack Stevens on Sept. 23, 1951, in Kearney. She later married Ervin Owen in 1979. He preceded her in death Aug. 11, 1987.
She graduated from Alma High School in 1942.
She lived in the Alma area until moving to Kearney in 1951.
She cared for the elderly and worked for Bethphage Mission, Axtell. Later she worked for Good Samaritan Hospital, Kearney, as a cook.
She was a member of the church where she was past treasurer of Joy Fellowship (Just Older Youth) and the White Cross. She was active in Parents Without Partners and Theos. She enjoyed gardening, fishing and taking care of the elderly.
Survivors include a son, Timothy Stevens and his wife, Melody, of Muscatine; daughters, Becky Kotrous and her husband, Gailen, and Gladys Carmody and her husband, Mike, all of Kearney; a brother, Edward Keslar Jr. of Alma; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Keslar of Alma; 10 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands and two brothers.

COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa -- Gomer Owen, 90, rural Columbus Junction, died Monday, Sept. 13, 2004, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.
Services are 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 17, at the Stacy-Lewis Funeral Home, Columbus Junction. The Rev. David Stoufer will officiate. Casket bearers are Robert Mehaffy, Erik Mehaffy, Jason Mehaffy, Leon Staff, Bill Mehaffy, Steven Dietsch, Alan Dietsch, Roger Dietsch and Tom Gerken. Burial will be at Cambrian Cemetery.
Mr. Owen was born Jan. 11, 1914, on the family farm in Louisa County, the son of William and Edith Elizabeth Davis Owen. He married Iva Dietsch Sept. 26, 1942, at Cumberland Presbyterian Church, Pleasant Grove.
He attended Yankee School, graduated from Cotter School and studied two years at Parsons College, during which time he was a member of the Parson Traveling Chorus. He graduated from the University of Iowa with bachelor of arts and bachelor of science degrees in 1931 and taught high school for several years in Olds and Dallas Center.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He began his civilian career with Deere and Co. in the Engineering Department in June 1946. He held various positions during his many years with the company, including tooling coordinator and engineering data investigator, before being named data coordinator, the position he held upon retiring on June 29, 1979, after 33 years of service.
He was a member of the Louisa County Farm Bureau, John Deere Male Chorus, Moline Square Dancing Group, Cambrian Cemetery Board and Bethel Methodist Church in Moline, Ill. WILTON, Iowa - Harvey L. Owens, 66, of Wilton, died Monday, November 3, 2008, at the VA Medical Center in Iowa City.
Memorial service will be 4 p.m. on Thursday, November 6, 2008, at the home of Steve and Jane Owens, 919 East Street in Wilton.

Harvey was born on February 19, 1942, in Muscatine, the son of John and Elsie Wasson Owens. He married Amber Birkhofer on September 12, 1964, in Aledo, Illinois.
He attended Wilton High School.
He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.
He retired from Wendling Quarries, Moscow, in 2006. He later worked for the City of Wilton at the CRC.
He was a member of the Wilton American Legion Post No. 584 and the Harley Owners Group. He enjoyed fishing and riding his motorcycle.
He is survived and lovingly remembered by his daughters, Staci Kirkman and husband, Robert, of Wilton, and Shelley Drake and husband, Kevin, of Wilton; a son Steve Owens and wife, Jane, of Wilton; four grandchildren; a sister, Sharon; and his brothers, Keith and Bryant.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his infant son, Scott; and his sister, Betty Moeller.

She had a vibrant and compassionate spirit.
Survivors include two daughters, Jamie Oakes of Portage, Michigan, and Robyn Oakes of Kalamazoo, Michigan, their father, James L. Oakes of Kalamazoo, Michigan; her father, Ralph Price of Muscatine, Iowa; a brother, Michael Price and wife, Linda, of Muscatine, Iowa; and a niece, Heather Robinson and husband, Bill, of Ames, Iowa.

NICHOLS, Iowa - Bernard LeRoy Oostendorp, 90, a lifelong resident of Nichols, died Wednesday, July 18, 2007.
Burial will be in the Nichols Cemetery.

Mr. Oostendorp was born Oct. 24, 1916, in Nichols, the son of William and Lola Metcalf Oostendorp.
He married Margaret Fox Nov. 30, 1939.
He operated Bernie's Tavern for 27 years and Bernie's Farm Supply with his son for 10 years.
He was a member of the Nichols Fire Department and a lifelong member of the Moose.
In his earlier years, he played clarinet in a local band and also managed the Nichols men's baseball team.
He enjoyed his grandchildren, hunting, fishing and going out on a Saturday night for a good meal and dancing.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Virgil Oostendorp and his wife, Diane, of Hinsdale, Ill., Bob Oostendorp of Iowa City and Ron Oostendorp and his wife, Ellen, of Nichols; five grandchildren, Michael Oostendorp, John Oostendorp, Kristin Jung, Heather Hester and Kimberly O'Hare; and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded by his parents; and three sisters, Margaret Lindle, twin sister, Beaulah Yakish Stych and Madelyn Ridenour.

He attended First Christian Church and was a member of the Independent Order of the Foresters.
He was employed at various construction companies for more than 40 years.
He enjoyed woodworking, macramé, gardening, and most of all, he dearly loved to spend time with his family and friends.
He will be deeply missed by his wife, Mary Ogle; two daughters, Barbara S. Phillips and her husband, Robert, and Patti A. Keller and her husband, Kerry, all of Muscatine; four grandchildren, Joy Warne, Michael Keller, Maddi Phillips and Thomas Keller; and two great-grandchildren, Ashley Warne and Zoie Warne.

She resided on a farm near Letts until May of 1992, moving Omaha until 1999, and then onto Villisca.
She was a former member of the St. Malachy Catholic Church and also a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Joan of Arc Court 524.
She loved her family and liked the outdoors, gardening and needlework.
Survivors include two sons, Emmet John O'Toole Jr. and his wife, Karleen, of Letts, and James Patrick O'Toole and his wife, Jane, of Letts; two daughters, Delphine Marie Smith and her husband, Bill, of Villisca, and Dorothy M. McKinney and her husband, Dr. Dan McKinney, of Omaha, Nebraska; 23 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; and one brother, Elmer Reichert of Muscatine.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 1991; one son, Michael O'Toole in 1948; one daughter, Patricia Butler in 1969; four brothers and five sisters.

She served in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a flight simulator instructor.
She was a school teacher for District No. 150 for 25 years, retiring in 1983.
She attended St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. She was an avid gardener and loved to travel.
Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Linn Turnis and her husband, Dave, of Bloomington, Ill. and Jan O'Toole of Edelstein; three grandchildren, Meghan Turnis and Nathan and Jennifer Sloan Turnis, all of Peoria; and a sister, Doris Cody and her husband, Emory, of Mulvane, Kan.

She attended Keithsburg schools and graduated from the former Joy High School.
She was a homemaker and assisted her husband in farming.
She was a member of the St. Catherine's Catholic Church, Aledo, former member of St. Teresa's Altar and Rosary Society, New Boston, and she enjoyed reading and being with her family.
Survivors include three daughters, Suzanne Willits and husband, Jerry, of Milan, Ill., Judy Wakeland and husband, Lloyd, of Keithsburg and Pamela Shaefer and husband, Edward, of Freeburg, Mo.; a son, Tom O'Toole and wife, Beth, of Hanover, Ill.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

COLUMBUS JUNCTION, Iowa - Bettie Oakes, 81, of Columbus Junction, died Wednesday, May 30, 2007, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City following a courageous battle with cancer.
The Rev. Catherine Whitlatch will officiate.
Casketbearers will be David Kauffman, Marvin Prior, Tom Clark, Jeff Wellington, Jason Hoyle, Wayne Barnes, Monte Kauffman and Chuck Plank.
Burial will be in the Columbus City Cemetery. Following the services there will be a time of food and fellowship held at the Columbus Junction United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Oakes was born March 12, 1926, in Louisa County, the daughter of Warnie and Ocie (McFarland) Moran.
She married Bill Oakes in January 1946. They later divorced.
She was a member of the Columbus City United Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary for 50 years and the N.E.A.
She taught for and closed several one-room country schools and continued teaching with the L-M School system for 27 years.
She enjoyed flowers, watching birds, visiting with neighbors and friends and she especially loved spending time with her family.
She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Peggy Deaton of Columbus Junction; four grandchildren, Will Deaton and his wife, Wendy, of Grand Rapids, Mich., Tara Deaton of Columbus Junction and her fiancé, Jason Hoyle, of Wayland, Sara Deaton and her fiancé, Jeff Wellington, of Columbus Junction and Amy Oakes of Kansas; two great-grandchildren, Maya Deaton and Dayton Oakes; two brothers, Lloyd Moran of Columbus Junction and Bill Moran and wife, Beth, of Independence, Mo.; and three sisters, Marguerite Malle of Pittsburg, Kan., Janet Cowger and husband, Dean, of Mediapolis and Velma Hamilton and husband, Bob, of Montezuma, Iowa.
