ROBERT CURTIS STANLEY GRIFFITH
Robert Curtis Stanley Griffith, age 83, passed on to a new life on September 8, 2009 after a lengthy illness. Born on December 12, 1925, Robert was the last of seven children born to Millard Beverly and Rosanna McNair Griffith. A proud native of Pensacola, Robert left home only to serve in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He returned from the war, married Ella Jean Conger and dedicated the next 61 years to his wife and family. Robert, also known as "Huck" or "Bill" to close friends and family, left this world with the firm assurance that he was going to a better place and a new life with Jesus Christ.
Preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Robert is survived by his wife Jean; his sons, Kirk Griffith (Patty) of Pensacola and COL Cary Griffith (Brenda) of St. Augustine, Florida; his daughters, Cindy Sheffield (Glenn) and Ginny Hinton (Dean) both of Pensacola. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Chastity VanMeter, April Jones, Schyler Sheffield, Deidra McGill, Kirkland Griffith, Celia Griffith, Ian Griffith, Alex Ritchie and Kayla Hinton. His much loved great-grandchildren include Brooke and Colin VanMeter, Justin Jones, Breanna Sheffield and Cameron Griffith.
Visitation will be held at Faith Chapel Funeral Home, 100 Beverly Pkwy on Thursday, September 10 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. The funeral will be held at Faith Chapel South on Friday, September 11 at 8:30 am with Rev. Dale Patterson officiating. Graveside service and interment will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to East Brent Baptist Church where the Griffiths have been members for over 40 years.
