YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Charles J. Walkowiec, 47, of the city’s west side, passed away Monday afternoon, Sept. 24, 2012, following a 10-month courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
Charles was born June 9, 1965, in Youngstown, Ohio a son of the late Michael and Rose Woloschak Walkowiec, and was a lifelong area resident.
He was a 1984 graduate of Chaney High School and subsequently served in the U.S. Navy.
After returning home from the Navy, Chuckie worked various jobs in the area. He was a lifelong member of Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
Chas leaves his brother, Michael (Crystal) Walkowiec of Boardman; his sister, Kathryn Walkowiec of Stockton, Calif.; his nephew and godson, Zenin Walkowiec; his niece, Delia Walkowiec; and many extended family members.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 North Meridian Road in Youngstown, OH
Funeral services will begin at 9:15 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home and continue at 10 a.m. at Sts. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 1025 N. Belle Vista Ave. in Youngstown.
Interment will follow at the parish cemetery.
