Biography

Word has been received of the death of George J. Kroboth, Jr., 81, Fletcher. No services are planned at this time.
Mr. Kroboth died Monday in a local hospital.
A private family inurnment with full military honors will be scheduled later at the Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin under the direction of the Becker Funeral Home & Cremation Service.
Mr. Kroboth was born on May 15, 1930 in Brooklyn, New York to George Joseph Kroboth, Sr. and Julia (Grezdacho) Kroboth. He married Irmgard Haupt on May 23, 1959 in Birkenfeld, Germany. She preceded him in death on November 19, 1997.
He was retired from the U.S. Army on December 31, 1977 at Fort Sill. His awards include the National Defense Service Medal with first oak leaf cluster, Army Commendation Medal with first oak leaf cluster, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Army of Occupation Medal, Good Conduct Medal 8th award and the Joint Service Commendation Medal. After his Army retirement he was employed at the Cameron University Library from 1979-1995. Because of his love of books, he volunteered at the Lawton Public Library and for the Red Cross at the Reynolds Army Community Hospital library. He was also known as a lover of animals. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by two sons, Gerald Kroboth and wife Debra, Oklahoma City, and George J. Kroboth, III and wife Christine, Gulfport, Mississippi; a daughter Ruth Kroboth, Fletcher; three grandchildren, Robert Kroboth, Reanna Kroboth and Angel Kroboth; two brothers and sisters in law, Robert and Arlyne Kroboth, New York City, New York, and Joseph and Annie Kroboth, France.
A grandson, Jay Kroboth, and a granddaughter, Kristina Kroboth, preceded him in death.
