Lt. Col. Landon Page Whitelaw, US Army (Ret.), age 88 of San Antonio died on Monday, December 24, 2012. He was born in New York City, NY February 5, 1924. In 1942, at the age of 18, “Tiny” joined the U.S. Navy. “Tiny” served four years and was honorably discharged as an Aviation Radioman 2nd Class in 1946. Upon obtaining a degree in Commerce and completing ROTC from the University of Virginia in 1950, he served in the U.S. Army during the Korean and Vietnam wars, achieving the rank of Lt. Colonel upon his retirement after 30 years of service. “Tiny” married the love of his life, Edith “Bonnie” Bonnett, in 1972. He served as a volunteer fireman in Windcrest for over 20 years being applauded as Santa Claus on their fire truck for many of those years. “Tiny” became an EMT for the fire department, being proudest of that. He was also a real estate agent for Century 21 for many years. “Tiny” was a member of Sunset Ridge Church of Christ for over 35 years. “Tiny” was preceded in death by his father, Hamilton D. Whitelaw; mother, Elizabeth West Weisiger Whitelaw; brother, Hamilton D. Whitelaw, II and sister, Elizabeth Randolph Brinckerhoff, and in 2005 his lovely wife, “Bonnie.”
