YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Stephen Kotyuha, 84, of the city’s west side, passed away early Monday evening, Jan. 21, 2013, at Assumption Village.

Steve was born May 22, 1928, in Campbell, Ohio the son of the late Andrew and Helen Geletka Kotyuha, and was a lifelong area resident of the Mahoning Valley.

Steve was a graduate of Campbell Memorial High School, and served in the U.S. Navy after World War II.

Steve owned and operated Steve’s Amoco on Mahoning Avenue in Youngstown from the 1960s through the 1990s.

He was a member of St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church in Youngstown.

His wife, Irene Byers Kotyuha, whom he married Sept. 19, 1959, passed away Dec. 15, 2003.

Mr. Kotyuha leaves two daughters, Carol (Stanley) Orr of Canfield, Ohio and Stephanie (Robert) Moore of Medina, Ohio; four grandchildren, Amanda, Matthew, Julie Anne, and Nicholas; a sister, Mary Jane (Norman) Guidos of Coitsville, OH; and three brothers, Walter Kotyuha of California, George Kotyuha of Wisconsin, and Michael Kotyuha of Campbell, Ohio.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Andrew Kotyuha.

Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24,2013 at Kinnick Funeral Home, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown, Ohio
Funeral services will begin on Friday at 10:15 a.m. at the funeral home, and continue at 11 a.m. at St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church on South Belle Vista Avenue.

Interment will follow at the parish cemetery, where Steve will be laid to rest next to his wife.
