YOUNGSTOWN – James “Bird” Koliser, 68, passed away peacefully at his home on Jan. 19, 2013, with his family at his side.
He was born Dec. 25, 1944, in Youngstown, Ohio (Mahoning County) the son of Louis and Anna Koliser.
James was a member of the U.S. Army, serving from 1962 to 1968.
He retired from the U.S. Postal Service after 29 years of service as a mechanic and was previously employed with Youngstown Sheet and Tube Company for 20 years.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 301. He enjoyed golfing, boating, and riding his motorcycles.
James loved to travel with his wife, Sara, most recently traveling to Hawaii and Alaska.
He was the sweetest man that loved spending time with his family.
He will be dearly missed by his loving wife, Sara, whom he married Nov. 8, 1984; a daughter, Cyndi (Wayne) Price-Stout of Coco Beach, Fla.; a son, Richard Koliser of Falls Church, Va.; a sister, Mary Lou (Larry) Kennedy of Boardman, Ohio; a brother-in-law, George Milick of Boardman; two grandchildren, Autumn Rae and Shaylee; a nephew, Ted; and many other nieces and nephews.
James was preceded in death by a brother, Louis; a sister, Francis; a sister-in-law, Betty; and his parents.
A memorial service will be held at the Lane Family Funeral Homes, Austintown Chapel on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at 11 a.m.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of the Valley.
