HUBBARD – Emil J. Tolnar, 86, who passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013, at ValleyCare Northside Medical Center in Youngstown, Ohio. (Mahoning County)
Emil was born Sept. 13, 1926, in Hubbard, Ohio a son of Peter and Mary Tolnar.
He was a welder for 30 years at US Steel in Masury, Ohio retiring in 1972. He was the owner of Emil’s Body Shop in Hubbard for many years.
He loved spending time with his family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He enjoyed bowling and golfing, and sponsored several teams. He also enjoyed playing slot machines and trying his luck with lottery tickets.
His wife, the former Catherine A. Tischler, whom he married June 9, 1945, passed away April 27, 2008.
Emil is survived by his children, Emil J. (Carmen) Tolnar of Cortland, Ohio, Virginia (Jean) Sammons, Michael Tolnar and Patricia Ann (Joseph) Schroeder, all of Hubbard, OH; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He also leaves his brothers, John (Loretta) Tolnar of Orlando, FL., Steve (Louise) Tolnar of Ft. Myers, Florida and Pete (Mildred) of Hubbard and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife; infant brother, Peter “Conjar” Tolnar; and two infant sisters.
There will be services at 1:30 p.m. Friday, March 8, 2013, at the Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home.
There will be calling hours on Thursday, March 7, 2013, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Stewart-Kyle Funeral Home.
Emil will be laid to rest at Hubbard Union Cemetery.
