Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Pat Boorhem passed away unexpectedly at home in Belcher, LA on Saturday, July 19. Born May 13, 1935 in Kemp, TX, Pat was the only child of Annie Pearl and John Edgar Haynie. She is survived by her husband of 25 years William Boorhem of Dallas,Texas and Belcher, LA.; aunt Grace Shehee of Dallas; children Kevin Hamlin, Ross Boorhem, and Dr. Harriet Boorhem, all of Dallas; Ann Medlin of Plano, TX; Beth Downing and husband O.E., of Austin, TX; Barbra Heimbach and husband David of Seattle, WA, ; grandchildren Andrea Evans and husband David of Hamilton, MT; Rebecca Medlin of Plano, TX; Wylie Boorhem, Sarah Jane Livingston and husband David, and Katherine Craft and husband Dan Solomon, all of Austin, TX; Noah Boorhem of Denton, TX; and Leslie Boorhem of Dallas; as well as four great grandchildren. Pat was preceded in death by her parents, son William Martin Boorhem and grandson Bub Downing.
Before her marriage to William Boorhem, Pat built and maintained a successful residential real estate business in Farmers Branch and Carrollton, TX with her partners Bettye Krauland and Mike Leonard. A member of the Dallas Chapter of the Women's Council of Realtors, whose mission is to empower women to exercise their potential as entrepreneurs and industry leaders, Pat was a past president of the organization.
Pat married William Boorhem in 1982, and together they built Foxwood Plantation, a beautiful and successful thoroughbred racehorse breeding farm in Belcher, LA. Named "Louisiana Breeder of the Year" several times, Foxwood not only breeds horses for sale, but has bred many successful race horses, including Zarb's Magic, who ran in the Kentucky Derby. Pat was deeply involved in and served as President of the Backside Benevolent Association, part of the Louisiana Horseman's Benevolent and Protective Association, which raises funds to support the Winner's Circle Ministry, as well as funds to support and assist backside track employees. Pat and husband Bill greatly enjoyed entertaining their many friends over the years in their suite at Louisiana Downs.

A loving and gracious wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Pat had the knack of making you believe that you were her favorite. She was both gracious and generous, dedicating much of her life to helping and supporting others. She will be deeply missed by her husband, children, extended family and many friends.

Funeral services will be Thursday, July 24 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Sparkman / Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 W. Northwest Highway, Dallas, TX 75225. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at Sparkman/ Hillcrest Funeral Home.
