Audrey Windle Willard, of Houston,TX age 74, was called home to the Lord on July 19, 2008. Born to Myrtle Agnes and Benjamin H. Windle on April 27, 1934 in St. Louis, Missouri, the family relocated to Galveston, Texas where she graduated from Ball High School. Audrey married Tech. Sgt. Charles Lee Willard, of Winnsboro, Texas on June 28, 1954. As an Air Force wife, she raised 3 children and her and her family lived in many different locations throughout the United States and abroad (Japan). She loved her family and loved to read, and amazingly enough she never learned to drive a car. She enjoyed going to resale shops, surfing the web, reading and learning about many different topics and religions. While living on a limited income, Audrey still felt it important to give to the less fortunate. Audrey is survived by her brother, Wilson Windle, his wife Lorene and nephew Adrian of Houston, son John "Willie" Willard and wife Leslie of Freeport, son Charles L. Willard and wife Ann of Dickinson, daughter Susan Willard and life partner Keith of Austin, 6 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and a large extended family of friends. Audrey was preceded in death by her parents and husband. A Memorial Service will be held at the Crowder Funeral Home on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at 12:00 Noon. Memorial contributions can be given in her memory to her favorite charities, Paralyzed American Veterans of America, 801 Eighteenth Street, NW Washington, DC 20006 or your local homeless shelter.
