Phillip Rodney Coren, 40, of Hendersonville, NC went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at Pardee Memorial Hospital. A native and lifelong resident of Henderson County, he was the son of Vallie June Butler Coren and the late Lloyd Oswell Coren. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Marcia June Cooke and Brenda Coren Williams.
He was employed as a truck driver by Tree Spaders of Greenville and attended Hendersonville Pentecostal Holiness Church.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Cathy M. Coren of Hendersonville; brothers, David Lyda of Hickory, Jeff Lyda and Lloyd Coren Jr. of Hendersonville; sisters, Karen Strickland of Zirconia and Wanda Edney of Hendersonville; stepchildren, Sabrina Edwards, Allan Mashburn, Brad and Chad Rice; three granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Hendersonville Pentecostal Holiness Church on Upward Road. The Revs. Michael Lane and Timothy B. Burton will officiate. Burial will follow at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour before the service at the church. Memorials can be made to the Rodney Coren Memorial Fund, P.O.
