Hello Melanie,

Yes it is me. As I explained, I am now semi-retired and keen to pick up the the family tree where I left off.

Like you, I have managed to find the wedding of William Pratt and Ann Turner and my wife and I are hoping to travel up to Warwickshire for a few days to try and access some of the Parish Records. Apparently most of the records are held at the Warwickshire County Records Office, but those for Stratford upon Avon are held by the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust.

I was intrigued to learn that an old school friend of yours is now the vicar of Launcells. Behind me as I am typing this is a copy of a watercolour of Launcells Church that was sold on behalf of their Appeal Fund. Have you visited the grave of James and Elizabeth Pratt in the churchyard? If not, when you do visit you will find it on the north side of the Church. In addition to James and Elizabeth, at the base of the gravestone is a memoriam to their son, Frederick Pratt, (i,e., my grandfather) who went down with his ship at the Battle of Jutland in World War I.

Like you, we have also had problems with our computer. In our case, our previous e-mail address became infected with spam. Unfortunately, our ISP at that time had little or no filtering system and it all ended up at our computer. Albeit our own firewall pushed it into a separate spam box. So unfortunately, you would not have been able to contact us anyway.

If you would prefer to contact me directly, rather than through the Ancestry notice board, I can now be reached at

Francis (Frank) Pratt
