Pratt - English brick and tile manufacturers
Hello,
I am seeking any information whatsoever on English brickmakers called Pratt, their brickworks, methods, employees and families.
My great X 3 grandfather, William Pratt, was born in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, but moved to Cheriton Bishop in Devon around 1841 and managed the brickworks there until his death. His son, my great x 2 grandfather, managed another brickworks, the Tilery at Red Post, near Launcells, Cornwall, from about 1860 onwards.
I am particularly interested to find out if William came from a brickmaking family in Warwickshire and/or to hear from anyone with ancestors who worked in one of my ancestors' brickworks, but I'd be fascinated to learn anything Pratt- or brick-related!
