I also forgot that Elizabeth, James' daughter also moved to Canada. It all started with Ezekiel and his maternal cousin Henry Collins who were set to live in Brome Township associating with Col. Asa Porter from Haverhill NH, although Porter mortgaged Brome and in consequence the associates received their grant 31 years later in 1828. Needless to say that Ezekiel Lewis relinquished his Brome grant and associated with Captain John Savage in Shefford Township which is next to Brome. 2 years later, Ezekiel's brother in law William Moffit move next to Ezekiel and the year next Silas arrived. All three received 1200 acres in 1801. Yes John Savage was concidered to be a Loyalist, jailed many times and even escaped being hanged. I truly beleive that free land was a huge factor as to why they moved to Canada. Although the second generation almost all moved back to the States.
