I wanted to update that I found that Claude's mother Mina/Nina died in 1910.

His mother appeared to have been very troubled as she appeared in numerous human interest articles in local newspapers of the time, variously portrayed as a homewrecker, a drunk, and a newly-rich widow who immediately blew her 2nd husband's insurance money to marry a younger man in a $6,000 wedding in a saloon called the Lame Goose (she was called the "Lame Goose Bride" in the article mentioning her sparsely attended burial). Her first marriage to Otho Hartley in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, was apparently unknown to East St Louis residents, as they thought Thomas Dulahan was her first husband.
