Trying to ascertain if Richard Johnson, who appears in the 1861 Census, in Hastings, Sussex, as a 'retired customs officer' (age 71) is the son of Richard Johnson and Mary Barber, and was born 1791 in Suffolk (Wrentham or Covehithe or South Cove)
If anyone could do a look up at Kew for any information about him, -I would be grateful. I live too far away to get to the Nat. Archives offices. Or alternatively if anyone can point me in the right direction to confirm the parentage.
