John,

I said previously that Thomas Tiltman went to Staiths, from which you might presume I meant Staiths near Whitby on the north Yorkshire coast. Well, I was looking at that Staiths this morning and noticed that Thomas Tiltman is not on it, so I did a bit of digging and there was another Staiths. This is Burnham Overy Staithes, which is now a suburb of Wells-next-the-Sea on the north Norfolk coast, and their list says he went there in February 1821. There is no forward station for him which means he was still there at the end of 1822.

The source for this is: ADM 175/1 p. 16, 141

Edit: I just checked my original message and realise I didn't actually say he went to Staiths. The sequence is this:
1. He was at Minster until 10-Aug-1819, when he joined Warden Point.
2. He left Warden Point on 8-Feb-1821 and went to Staiths.
3. He Joined Burnham Overy Staiths on 8-Feb-1821 and was still there in 1822.

Yours, Martin
