I have written on two prior occasions to this message board but for some reason did not get an alert from Ancestry after the second posting in which I gave quite a lot of detail. That was back on 30 January 2009 by sdmcd. Tonight I have had an alert which I have followed up on for 1 November and as a consequence found a lot of other messages which I have worked my way through.
Yes, I have an Ellen Morricy/Morrison (daughter of Silvester & Ellen Morrison) married to a James George who I think was born about 1841. I have James George and his wife Ellen having 6 children (Cordelia, Isabella, Edward, Mary Ellen, James Silvester and Annie). I have no other information other than names (no place of marriage or dates, no birth dates for children etc etc). It would also be good to get any photos of the area as it is now or even historical photos if anyone has some. Any information re the early history of the people, names, dates etc would be so much appreciated.
Our ancestry goes back through Ellen Morricy/Morrison who married the James George to Ellen's father and mother--Silvester Morrissey/Morrison b 1827 in Portsmouth, Hampshire, England and wife, Ellen Whelton born about 1829 in Ireland. They were married in 1849 in County Cork, Ireland. So it was their first born (daughter Ellen) who married the James George.
Going back a step further it was Silvester's brother John (my husband's Great Grandfather) who came to Australia and married the daughter of a convict (my husband's Great Grandmother). Silvester and John's father was a Matthew Morrissey b 1796 in Cork, Ireland and he married an ellen O'Sullivan/Sullivan born about 1792 in Kinsals, Kerry, Ireland.
Back on 30th January, "waitwith" answered my message and asked for my email, but since I did not get that alert I have only just read that request tonight. My contact is: email@example.com
I would really love to hear from anyone who is following this thread if they can give further information or photos that are helpful. Because my information of ancestors in the Sennen Cove area is very sketchy, much of what has been posted does not mean a lot to me. Any further information and/or explanations would be appreciated.
