Classification: Marriage
Surnames: Pill Penrose George Morrisey, Morrison
I am just picking up on messages about my Hugh Pill ancestry at Sennen Cove. I have contacted jo and find that we are descended from the same line. I have visited her in Havant and seen her research which is superb. I have picked up on your reference to marriage of a Morrisey with one of the local George family at Sennen. The Pill family and the George family are very much intertwined as are my Penroase family. What a tangle of marriages etc. Alan Penrose Binns. in Burnley .Lancs
Someone raised a question as to why Pill children were born in Lowestoft. Hugh Pill was stationed there in the 1820s. before he was stationed in Sennen. Hugh Pill was born in Gorran Haven Cornwall in 1789. He entered the coastguard Service in about 1816. Family tradition says he was at Trafalgar but cannot prove it. There was a John Pill Able Seaman recorded in the Trafalgar Muster for HMS.Victory.That means he survived the battle. He was listed as an able seaman, Prest Man. Native of Cornwall, aged 25? Dont know who he was. Alan
