I have seen family leave from Le Havre, Rotterdam, and ports in England. I have seen then arrive in NY, Philadelphia, Boston, New Orleans and Galveston... also coming in via Canada. There was not just one route...

I checked Castle Garden (NY) at the time and did not see them.
