Jacob Stenger Sr. b. abt 1786 d. 9 Sept 1855
He only had one wife, Magdelena, who he married in France.
He had 2 children in France, Jacob Jr. and Magdelene.
After his immigration he had one other child in the US - Caroline b. 1834
He apparently worked as a merchant/grocer until his death in 1855. He is buried in New Hope Lutheran Cemetery in Salem Ohio.
In 1856 his wife Magdelena moved to Iowa to live with their eldest daughter Magdelene and her family. Her younger daughter Caroline also moved to Iowa in about 1860.
That only left Jacob Jr. and family remaining in the Salem/Zanesville Ohio area. He had 2 wives.
His 1st wife was Mary Rechel b. 1818 d. 1850
Jacob and Mary had 4 children: Caroline Elizabeth b. 1840, Mary b. 1842, William Henry b. 1844 and Josephene Catherine b. 1846
His 2nd wife was Elizabeth A Hoskinson b. 1821 d. 1865
Jacob and Elizabeth had 3 children: John F. b. 1852, Charles R. b. 1857, Harry Grant b. 1860. Elizabeth Hoskinson had a daughter by a prior marriage, Augusta b. 1848.
Jacob Jr. was a merchant/grocer in his earlier years but then became a hotel owner during his later years. I have no information concerning his date or place of death. The last record I have for him is the 1860 census showing him in Zansville with wife Elizabeth. He then just disappeared.
