Classification: Query
Surnames: Madara
My GG-GM Catherine Madara 1838-1886 had 3 brothers who were glass blowers. George 1832-bef 1870 was listed as a glassblower in the 1850 & 1860 census. Ezekiel 1839-? was a glassblower in 1860 in Millville, NJ. I believe that Ezekiel died before 1870. Joseph 1834-1919 first appeared with George as a glassblower in the 1850 census. The Madara family lived then in the Kensington section of Philadelphia but were from Gloucester County, NJ. The census taker in 1850 spelled the name Medara. By 1860 the family lived in Millville, NJ. Joseph & Ezekiel were both Civil War soldiers and Joseph was active in the GAR veterans assoc. in Millville. My G-GM grew up near Millville and would have known her Uncle Joseph. We may have a picture of Joseph Madara among her pictures. I don't have any info where exactly any of them worked or when the family got into glassmaking. Their father William Madara 1795-aft 1860 was a laborer.
