McAdam/McAdams shipmen in Lake, Cuyahoga, Ashtabula and Erie Co

I am looking for any information on the McAdam/McAdams ships and crews that anyone may have. I am also looking for relatives of James McAdams in Painesville/Lake Co. Andrew, Alexander, William, John, Joseph and Peter McAdams in Ashtabula/Ashtabula Co Ohio
.
I have a great deal of information I would like to exchange with other relatives of James (b) 1809,(d) 1889, his sons, and James siblings that were involved in shipping on the great lakes.

Great Lakes shipping ca 1800s

I would like recommendations on good books that would cover the social and historic impact of shipping and steameships on the Great Lakes. Something that would tell what our shipfaring ancestors dealt with on a day-to-day basis.
