President Lewis of UMWA, closed Hudson Mine against Strikers in Indiana

From _(The) Charleroi Mail_ (Charleroi, Washington Co., Pennsylvania) Tues., Feb. 2, 1909, Vol. 9 No. 147, page 1:

(title of article) "Reports State That Lewis Is Elected -- Indianapolis, Ind., Feb. 1: President Lewis of the United Mine Workers won a victory today over his enemies when the national convention by a vote of more than two to one approved his policy in respect to the Indiana miners. Lewis suspended the district officers of that state, closed the Hudson mine against the strikers to work, and refused to recognize the officers when they rebelled against his authority." (end)

Note: President Lewis was from the Charleroi area, which is in the southwestern corner of PA. I do not know where the Hudson Mine in Indiana was located; possibly in or near Indianapolis, since this news item originated there?

This article was transcribed "as found."
