My gggrandfather, Andrew Martin Jackson Roberts, was killed in a coal mine near Wellsburg in 1874. He was a 44 yr old Civil War Veteran who left behind a wife and 7 children. The youngest was a year old.

I am finding very little information about specific coal mines or accidents in this time period. Does anyone else have ancestors who worked the Brooke County Coal mines in the 1870's?
