My grandfather was a Cashier and Accountant most of his life and moved from Scotland to Liverpool and then back to Glasgow again. I am trying to discover if his job around 1911 was anything to to with shipping. (His brother was into this in Glasgow, and I wondered if he was in Liverpool as a shipping agent for him.)
He is listed on the 1911 census at Egremont, Liverpool as being a "Cashier - Forwarding Agent Teamowners" - or is it Seamowners? (On the printed version of the census, it says Seamowners.) DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT TEAMOWNERS OR SEAMOWNERS MEANS? I have no idea what he was working at, just that he was living near Liverpool docks.
If it is SEAMOWNERS - what does that mean?
