A. Simmons or Simmonds, Captain during Arctic Whaling

Surnames: Simmonds, Simmons
I am looking for information on Abraham or Abram Simmons/Simmonds who was a whaler and captain during the Arctic Whaling expeditions through from the late 1880's through the early 1900's. The Arcic whaling season took him through northern Alaska (Barrow) and Canada (Herschel Island). We believe he was from Massachusettes and started whaling out of New Bedord.
