I am looking for anyone with information of the crew of the Middlesex of Boston that sailed from New Orleans and Galveston Tx.

My GG-grandfather Joseph Vickers "commenced aboard the ship Middleton [sic] of Boston about 1945" - We believe this ship was the Middlesex of Boston - a passenger ship.

Joseph Vickers was about 11 when an uncle took him to sea.

What would a boy of 11 do aboard such a ship and how do I go about finding out about the crew and maybe who the uncle was.

We do not know anything about the parents of Joseph other than the mother was from Louisana and the father from France?? Joseph was an only child from what we understand. Born 10 July 1834, Galveston, Texas.

Any help or direction would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you all.
