George FRENCH, Railway Signalman

G'day,

I have just started on the Family Tree and have discovered that one of my male ancestors was a Railway Signalman.

His name was George French and his occupation was so listed in the 1881 Census.

He and his family were listed as being in the Southampton, Hampshire area at that time.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to find out further information?

I'd like to find out more about him and his family, but also, which railway he worked for and in particular, the signal box or boxes he worked.

Regards,

ChrisF - Western Australia.
