I am looking for information on Charles Thomas BURLING 1855-1907, who was station master at Spon Lane in Smethwick in the early 1900's.
I have census records from 1881 (Aberystyth), 1891 (Walsall) and 1901 (Smethwick), and IGI listings of his marriage and the birth and death of his first child between 1873-77. His birthplace is given as Upminster, Essex, but I can't find him in 1861 or 1871.
As he was a station master in 1881,at the age of 28, I am assuming that in 1871 he would have been somewhere along the LMS? line as a porter or ticketing clerk, working his way up the ladder so to speak.
Is there any way to find out more about him?
Regards
Jenni
