Police Forces in Forfarshire

I am researching the details of officers who served in Forfarshire Police/Angus Police up to 1930, and the constituent forces of Brechin, Kirriemuir, Montrose and Forfar Burghs on the formation of Angus County Police. I am also interested in the members of Arbroath Burgh Police, who amalgamated with the (then) new force of Angus Constabulary in 1949. I shall be delighted to hear from anyone who may have had these officers in their family tree, or who may be able to provide photographs of the men or their stations, and I hope to make my findings available to all interested parties. Your help will be greatly appreciated.

Victorian Metropolitan Police Stations

I wonder if anyonre can help me. I am trying to locate my great grandfather Thomas FOINETT, in the 1861 census. At the time he was a police constable, serving in A Division (Westminster). As a single man, I think it likely that he was living in a section house, attached to one of the stations.

So far, the only police station I have identified is King Street Westminster. If anyone has any other details or where I may find the necesary information, I would be very grateful.

Richard Foinette

Sgt. James Stevens, Yorkshire

My g-g-g-g-grandfather James Stevens is listed on the 1861 Census of Heckmondwicke, Yorkshire at age 33 as a Sergeant of Police. By 1871, age 43 he's in Dewsbury, Yorkshire listed as a police pensioner and umbrella maker. If I can narrow it down, perhaps I can find out why he left the profession so young.

Can you assist?

Police Premises

In the 1901 census it shows police premises in Derby Lane. I think my grandfather lived there as a young police constable. At 1a Derby Lane lived Superintendant of police with his wife and family. They had an 18 year old servant called Edith Allan, whom I believe to be my grandmother. I would welcome any information possibly tracing my grandfather through old police records but I don't know how.
Does anyone have any ideas? I would welcome any
suggestions,

Regards,

Jean.
