Hi Bill,
Are you a descendant of Calvin Warnell Polk? His sister, Clara Virginia "Jenny" Polk, who married Charlie Smith on 9-Sept-1886 in Caldwell Co., TX. is my gg.grandmother.
If you are a descendant, can you tell me who "Peanut" Polk was?
How 'bout a family story from the TX. line? -My grandmother (born 1919) has said when she was a small girl, her mother and 2 of her Polk first cousins (one a daughter of Laura Jane who married Eustace- the other daughter of Polk who married Barber) all went to OK. for several weeks to visit their first cousin- "Peanut" Polk, who was running for some type of office. She thought for Gov. or Lt. Gov. but is no longer sure that is correct.
He presented each of his first cousins with identical, beautiful vases made in OK. to commiserate their stay.
My great-grandmothers is still in our family and will be mine one day. I would really like to identify "Peanut" Polk.
Thanks!
Robin
