I have a very nice violin made by "A.J. Erickson, Boston MA, 1911" that my grandfather bought around 1920, and my father played as well. It is a superb instrument, all who play it agree, and my understanding was that the maker worked at the Chickering Piano factory in Boston, and was a luthier in his spare time. I wonder if this could be the father of John Ericson? I've tried to find info on other Erickson Violins, but this is the closest I've come. John Ericson is also the one in "Violin Makers of the United States" , a hardcover tome that includes amateurs, but not A.J. Erickson
