I was hoping to uncover the history of John Ericson, violin maker. This violin has been in our family for over twenty years and prior to that belonged to a member of the RI Philharmonic Orchestra. We would like to track the history of the instrument. If anyone has any information, please respond. Thanks.

I have a violin that is now just over 30 years old. It seems to be called a herald (it says this on the heel of the neck).
My old violin teacher always wanted to buy it from me. He said it was superb. Sadly he died long ago now. Im curious as to its worth, and if anyone has ever heard of it.
many thanks
martin

Recently I had aquired a small "parlor guitar" with no markings other than a label inside that states:
Repaired by (hand written)
John H. Ericson Violin Maker
Hammond, IND 1927 (hand written)
I have started a hobby of taking in various (wooden) stringed instruments that are in poor condition & attempting to bring it back to playable condition. It is my belief that these instruments are the true treasures (it was not the instrument that sits in a museum or a collection never to be played). Aside from some cosmetic inperfections, these instruments gain it's voice once again...

My son has been advised to apply for conservatory since his teachers believe he has a lot of talent. But we are confused as to which of several teachers he should study with. Those recommended so far for his level of accomplishment are Peter Winograd of the Manhattan schoolf of music, Anthony Serafini of Centenary College and Susan Waterbury of Ithaca College

Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions?

Antique Violin

I have an antique violin handed down to me from my grandfather and I'm trying to find information on this instrument. The label inside states that it's a Carlo Berqonzi model with the names Carmen and Koch and a goat logo inside an oval. Indricate scroll work on chin plate, tuning pegs and tail piece. This is a very old violin. Haven't been able to find anything on this instrument from my local library. I had a violin teacher play this instrument and she stated it had the best tone she'd ever heard. Any help appreciated.

I am looking for any information on a maker from the early 1900's. A pair of fiddles were made for a famous fiddling couple here in Texas. One sticker reads, (handwritten)
"F. A. Sennrt Made for Marsh. Marley Dallas Texas 1919 #115" "Sennrt" is illegible to me it could be something else. The Second sticker reads, (typed) "S.M Orenbaun" I have come to a dead end in the states and am hoping someone across the ocean knows something about this pair. Maybe even were the sister to it is. I'd love to hear any bits and pieces of info. Find me at heatherwag@teacher.com

My mother just informed my that my great grandfather was a violin maker. He lived in Anoka Minnesota. Last name was either Hibbard or Hubbard. I am guessing it would have been in the early 1900's. I am looking for ideals on how to track down information about whom he might have worked for, or where he might have sold his violins to. If anyone can help out with ideals, I sure would appreciate any help! Thanks in advance!
