Another source if it was made in Pennsylvania: The Library Company of Philadelphia.

A search of an historical directory of that time will confirm whether or not your C.W. MILLER lived in Pennsylvania or elsewhere.

Good luck!

The National Watch & Clock Museum, which is located in Pennsylvania, may be able to help.
http://www.nawcc.org/index.php/museumlibrary

There's also a Germantown, New York and a Germantown, Maryland.

You would probably need to research clockmakers for that time period. Try www.worldcat.org for relevant books...

Charles WILLIAMS, Watch Maker, London C1908

Hi all

I am at a dead end regarding my research on one line of my tree and thought I may try to find a work around.

I am unable to find my great grandmother prior to her marriage. On the marriage certificate her father is listed as

Charles Williams - Watch Maker

This was in 1908.

I have been looking online, through trade directories but have been unable to find him. Does anyone have any tips or advice as to where I might look? I am hoping to find an address or spouse name so I can locate the family on census records and thus move further back on the line.

Thank you in advance for any help you might be able to give.

Erika
Assuming the locations you mention are those in the UK (the same location names appear in Canada, the US, Australia, and other places throughout the world), you might try posting to the UK-Watchmakers mailing list. Information can be found at http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index/other/Occupations/U...

Good luck!

TYTE watch/clock makers Apprenticeship Records

Does anyone have the book by Moore which contains Watchmakers Apprenticeship Records and would be able to do a look up for me, or any other book which may have similar info.

I am interested in several watch/clock makers with the surname of Tyte, Samuel working c1830 Warminster, Cornelius working c1844 Swansea, Cornelius working c1861 Wells, and George Williams Tyte working c1880 Wells. I have quite a bit of info on them already but trying to find their early apprenticeship years.
