Anyone out there know anything about wheels, and wagon making? According to info obtained from my grandmother, my gggrandfather was CEO of Gate City Carraige Co. in Winona, Mn., in about 1880. His name was Egbert Scudder Mead. I found him in the 1870 census of Iowa as an apprentice wheelwright. In the 1880 census of Winona, he's listed as a carraige trimmer. According to my grandmother, the Gate Carraige Co. held the patent for the buckboard wagon. I just wondered if anyone knows of any sources for information about this, short of a visit to the National Archives?
