Houstons/Carn or Carnes

I am trying to find any information on the John Thompson Houston/Margaret Carn or Carnes family. I know they were married in Wilcox Co. in 1829, my great great grandfather was born in Alabama in 1830, and his brothers and sisters were born there, also. They moved to Texas around 1845-46. John's mother, Ann Howey Houston, probably died there, possibly buried in Perry Co., and Johns brother, Allen Houston, and his wife, Elizabeth (Margaret Carn's sister) were married in Wilcox Co. in 1831. They are supposed to be listed in the 1850 Wilcox Co. Census, and also in the 1860 Dallas Co. Census, but I can't find either. I would like to know who Margaret and Elizabeth's parents were. There is a Rebecca Carn living with Allen and Elizabeth in both 1850 and 1860, and she may be their mother. I just don't know. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Benjamin Gordon Peacock is buried in the Asbury Cemetery, Skipperville, Dale County, Alabama. d ca 1860's. We were at this cemetery in 1980, but we did not find a grave for him. We did find Pearson Peacock which was his father and I have a picture of his grave with my husband standing by it (Billy Louis Peacock his great great grandson)
Celia Iantha Windham Peacock is buried in the Chapel Hill Cemetery, Grenada , Mississippi. This cemetery is way out in the country and when we were there , there was no stone for her, but Mrs. J.H. Pittman (a Peacock descendant) of Gore Springs, Mississippi took us to the cemetery. There are several more of the kin buried there. Eliza Ann Peacock Woods & husband John Green Woods, Anna Oliva Peacock and husband Wm. Lafayette Dickson, Gordon Ewell Peacock and two of his children Thomas Pearson and (whose son Thomas Finley lived in Calhoun City, in Miss in 1980) and Homie V. who married a Downs

Mrs. Pittman said that her father went to Dale County and brought Celia back there , when I do not remember)

Would you mind telling me how you are connected? Billy my husband was raised by his grandmother Harriet Vermell Peacock, d aughter of Benjamin Gordon and Celia Windham Peacock after his mother died when he was two years old.

My new e-mail address is lcstiles49@earthlink.net.
Also I am searching for information on John Gann and Sarah Wood Gann. I do not have a date of birth or death on either, however they were both born in Alabama, County unk. They had 4 children that I know of, possibly more. My grandfather, John William Gann b:Jan 12, 1896 d: Sept.17, 1919,pf typhoid fever, in Etowah Co., Ala. in Gadsden. He had a brother Ray Gann , Glenn Gann and a sister, her name is unknown. They were all younger than my grandfather, I believe. In 1939 his sister lived in Detroit , Michigan , because my father went to visit her the summer before he and my mother married. My mother doesn't ever remember him saying what her name was and my grandmother never told us either. My father died when I was 4 and I have never known any of my Gann family. I want to find them. I have photos of my grandfather, 2 of Ray Gann , 1 of Glenn Gann as a toddler and 1 of their sister. My grandmother said that my great-grandmother Gann was half Cherokee Indian and it is evident especially in my grandfather's sister. Please if you have any information write.

I have traced the families back to the 1870 US Census (Howard Daniels, William Stanford). Now I am interested in finding the possible slave holders. Crews is on of the holders. Emeline Norton, wife of Reddick Norton, is one relative that was on their plantation.

Are you researching any of these surnames in Barbour county?
I am seeking information in regards to the descendants of James McGee/Magee and Susan(nah) Sheffield, who were living in Wilcox County 1820-1850, approx. James and Susannah had the following children, all born in AL, according to the 1850 census. These children appeared on the census with James and Susan: Isham, Ellen (m. A. W. Also in the household: John Norwood, age 31, warehousekeeper, born NC.
Any info on any of the descendants would be most appreciated. Thank you.

PRICE/HALL in Northern ALabama

I've hit a dead end with my ancestors from Alabama. I believe they may have come from Limestone County but I have no proof. Nancy C. (HALL) PRICE came to Lauderdale Co. TN around 1870-1875. Apparently Nancy married Will PRICE around 1855-1859. They had two known sons, Mon(Marn)? and James Y.(known as JY) shortly after arriving in TN she gave birth to a girl, Louella. JY was born in 1859 in AL according to census records. He married Martha Jane Ballard who was also born in AL. Nancy's parents were born in SC.
