A.O.H. membership requirements
We have a great uncle who was a member of the AOH Division 1 in Detroit, Michigan in 1889. We are trying to find out where his father came from in Ireland and were wondering if any records may still exist from that time in history? The uncle's name was Nicholas Hennessey and he died in August 1889. Were members required to document their Irish heritage back then? Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
