Hello Bob: When did you visit Number Nine? That's a shame what people do to old cemeteries sometimes.
My grandfather died there while working on the plantation in 1936 and is buried in an unmarked grave in the Number Nine Cemetery.
I visited there in May of 2002 and the Cemetery was well kept then, and the little church across the highway was still used and in good shape.
I wanted to mark the grave of my Grandfather but could not find a record that showed the location of the grave. The funeral home in Blytheville had a record of the burial but no location. I have some pictures of the Cemetery and Church made in 2002. Below are some links to a site I have just put 4 of the pictures on if you would like to see them. regards, Red Anthonyhttp://img.photobucket.com/albums/v208/Familystuff/cem/Churc...http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v208/Familystuff/cem/sign....http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v208/Familystuff/cem/No9.j...http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v208/Familystuff/cem/no9-2...
