Slaves on Old Church Records

Surnames: Slaves Who Were Members of Early Baptist Church
I have access to old minutes (1848) of a white (I am white) baptist church located near Marianna, Lee, AR that has members who were listed as slaves of Brother or Sister So and So. Their first name was given. I would be interested in following up on some of these slaves but, of course, the 1850 and 1860 slave schedules does not list slaves by name...only the number "owned" by Mr. or Mrs. So and So. I am white, but I would like to share what I have with anyone that might be interested in these individuals. I can share the name of the slave and to whom he/she belonged. I assume to be able to find them later in 1870, you'd have to know the slave's last name. Does anyone know if the slave normally took the name of their owner? There are only four or five slaves named, but I'd like to be able to share that info with whomever would like to have it.
