Marshall Eugene Boswell in fact married Amorit H Bates, on 3 November 1893 in Milwaukee. They must have dissolved that marriage soon after, because Marsall married Mary L Anderson on 28 September 1896 in Milwaukee. Amorit had been married to Brainard J Orton; this marriage is mentioned in Brainard's bio in the History of Henry county, Illinois
