Diane,

We may be related more than once, I am descended from John Wesley Collins and Nancy Elizabeth Lawson via their daughter Victoria Collins, who is my paternal grandmother. Victoria married Hiram Hall, and they had my father Jesse Hall. I have the usual info I've found on Ancestry, but I can ask my father questions. He did tell me that Nancy Evelyn Lawson was known for raising 'knocking spirits'.

Wasn't it true that many farm workers went under the radar for many years? I have been looking for my great uncle's Social Security number or years without luck. He passed in 1952. I have sent for SS records without any luck. His name was William M Myers born April 14, 1885 in Shawnee Oklahoma and Passd in Spokane Washington 1952. I have looked for years.

Researching information on Edmond (Edman and also Ed) Keenum/Keenam/Keanam (each census record has it spelled differently). He was born abt Feb 1900 (no death date listed) in Alabama and was married to a woman named Mandy (no maiden name listed) who was born about 1890 in Alabama. They had three daughters: my grandmother Lona (Loner) E. Keanam Melson (born 7 Aug 1922/died 17 Oct 1997 - Russellville, AL), Kathelene (born abt 1925) and Irene (born abt 1927). They all were from Alabama.

Edmond's parents were Lewis Keenan - born Aug 1857/died 17 Mar 1917 (Alabama) and Anna Orlina Eddy - born Apr 1865/died 22 Feb 1920 in Colbert County, AL.

I am specifically looking for who Edmond's wife is. I've only found a Census record that lists her as Mandy Keanam. I've heard through the family there is Cherokee ancestry in this family, but I can't trace it. Also, does anyone know the correct spelling of this last name? Every Census record has it listed differently. What country does the name originate from?

Thanks for your help with this! Any information is greatly appreciated.

They have several children, Clyde Melson being one of them. Clyde Melson is my birth father. I am particularily interested in learning about Bill Melson's lineage and also Loner Keenum's lineage as I can't seem to find any records (other than Loner's death information) on this website. I have heard that there is Cherokee Indian in the family and I'd like to find out how and on what side of the family.
I am a descendant of John Lawrence thru his son George, George's son James Moseley, and James' daughter Martha Jane Lawrence. I have found much info on Martha's family, but very little about her or her husband, Marshall T. Ferguson. I have info on their children. Can you share?
Thanks.

Hi there!
Despite my best efforts, I am unable to trace my great-grandparents.
They all lived in Bremerhaven, Germany, but I can only assume they did not come from there. It is possible branches of this family went to the States. If you have any connections with Kaune, Susemann (Susmann), Evermann or Neuenhoff please contact me. The dates (birth) would be around 1850 to 1880. Hope to hear from you!!! Dee

With your information I was able to find Ada, Charles Steele, Harry Anderson, and Alice Beaver on the 1910 census in Cottonwood Twp, Phelps Co., Nebraska. I did not locate any of them thereafter. My interest is primarily in that Ada and her children are descendants of Ephraim and Sarah (German) Worthen. Ada's mother, Mary Worthen Surbrugg, was a sister to my great-grandmother, Anna Worthen Badley. If your niece is interested in that line, she can contact me directly at huffmava@msn.com Vicki Huffman

Ada Surbrugg was my maternal grandmother. She and Harry Anderson had one son. She divorced him then married my grandfather, James Beaver. They had one daughter (my mother) Alice. James died in 1908 and Ada married Charlie Steele in 1909. My niece is trying to do a family tree from that side of the house. I am interested also, but am letting her do most of the work. If there is any other info that we can share, would be happy to.
Bonnie Johansen

I just read over your response quickly and wanted to answer you straight off. I will have to look at my Surbrugg notes to answer your questions, but they are on my other computer. I have been in contact with Frank Anderson's daughter and got more information that I have not entered onto my computer so I will have to get back to you on that. I will also have to get back to you with that information. I have the death records for the Surbruggs from the Missouri Archives (love that website). I have not been able to find Ada after she and Harry divorced. Once I go through the CDs I have of the interview with Frank Andersn's daughter, I will let you know what new information I have. Thank you.

I think that you know that Ada M. Surbrugg was the daughter of Jacob Franklin Surbrugg and Mary Worthen. I have not been able to find her after 1880, but her son, Frank Anderson, was in the home of Jacob and Mary in 1910 in Barton Co. He was 14. Mary indicated on the census that all five of her children were still living. Who did Ada marry after Anderson? Also, do you know who the younger sister, Allie (Alice?) married? Jacob (apparently called Frank), Mary, Jacob, JOhn, and Henry all have Missouri death records that can be read on-line at the Missouri Sec of State web site.

Hi Peter,

Thanks for the clarification. Last year I spent a lot of time doing David's geneaology for the Gantzer family. I made contact with your dad (Hugh) and he even sent me pictures as I did to him. He had told me that he had a nephew (??) in England he had been with the RAF and gave me an email of a woman I could contact him through b/c apparently he had done a TON of backtracking. My emails would never go through so I gave up. There was a ton of data through the church online outlining relationships but I had nothing to go on outside of India prior to that. I don't know if the Gantzer's were from the family originating in Alsace or England via Germany. Just got very confusing. I may pick this all up again but life just got really busy and I let it slip on the list of to do's.

Say hi to your dad. Tell him everyone here is fine. Keith just turned 84 I think....

Julie
