I have just discovered my ggg grandparents, Benjamin Gilbert b. 1816 d. 29 April 1895 and Matilda Gilbert d. 23 January 1896, are both buried in the International Order of Odd Fellows Cemetery, Montgomery Co., PA. I have discovered that there are MANY Gilberts from Lower Merion Twp., Montgomery Co,PA. Benjamin Gilbert was born in 1816 and I and having great difficulty finding records from then. Were the Odd Fellows a large organization in that area? This falls into place with most of the Gilberts originating in England. (Thats where the Odd Fellows originated).

Grand United Order Historian?

I have recently found that "The Official History and Manual of the Grand United Order of Odd Fellows" by Charles Brooks (Google Book Project) contains a poem in it on page 254 by Jane KAVANAGH. I am very curious about this Jane KAVANAGH, as I suspect she may be a relative of my wife. Is there a chance that somewhere there may be more information about this poem or its author?

Among my Grandfathers belogings I have found a secretary medal and Oddfellow medal and his small book and membership details.
My Grandfather was John Arnott from Whithorn and the lodge number was 5988.

My G-grandfather, John WILSON, b-3 Sep 1870 in Auraria, Lumpkin Co, GA He was a member of Price Lodge No 76 in Murrayville, GA. I have copy of a letter , dated 7 Jan 1918 from the Lodge Secy's, J.L. Pinson
requesting that WILSON provide further information on a medical claim. WILSON died 20 Jul 1918.
Do you know this Lodge or how I could obtain more information??

Odd Fellows Lodge in MS

One of my ancestors, James McGee, was a member of the Enterprise Lodge Independent Order of Odd Fellows. According to his memoriam in the local newspaper, he was "a useful and active member."

Has anyone had any success in locating local orders, if they're still in existence, in the US? I've read other postings on this board and have tried the ioof.org link but the link must be broken or not in use anymore.

Any suggestions??

Orting, Washington Lodge?

I am looking for information on the Orting Lodge in Pierce County, Washington. I believe the lodge is no longer active, and I have tried to contact the secretary listed on the IOOF web site, but the person they have listed is deceased.

Any information on the Lodge history would be great - I am specifically looking for my great-grandfather, William Warner Brown, who was apparantly heavily involved in the lodge.

Western Star Lodge No. 81 I.O.O.F. Augusta Kansas

I just received an obituary on a relative that died in 1920, it states that he was a member of the Western Star Lodge No. 81 in Augusta Kansas. I can not find such a lodge listed in Augusta Kansas but did find one in Michigan. If a lodge closes down/ becomes inactive does some other lodge take that number? I was just trying to find information on how long he had been a memeber and don't have a clues as to how to find out. Any help would be appreciated.

Does anyone have a membership list or minute book of any records for this lodge dating around 1886? They were part of the Colored Oddfellows. I am looking into John Viney who died from injuries from initiation rites (8/11/1886) in London, Ohio (Madison County). The local news accounts said "Cora Lodge" paid for the funeral and provided aid to his widow and children. Thank you for any info.

My G.G.G'father Jean (John) LeHuray was a member for most of his life. I don't know if this all belongs to the name of his lodge: Royal St. Anne's Lodge No. 4360 of Manchester Unity, IOOF. from 1851 until his death in Canada in 1899. Is there any possibility of sks doing a look up?

Working from a set of old photos showing a Fourth of July picnic (1939) at an "Odd Fellows Orphan Asylum" with a large natural gas tank in the background. Trying identify location, sources of information about residents, etc.

The does not seem to be a good match on the http://www.bklyn-genealogy-info.com lists of 1930 census facilities in any of the five boroughs of new York City.

Was wondering if anyone has old directories from 1900-1918 that would mention my grandmother Annie Cahn Frankenstein and if she attained any status in the organization. Her obituary says she was a member of OES Schuyler Colfax Rebekkah Lodge #803 White Star Auxiliary of 132 Regiment. She passed away November 23, 1918 . Thanks for any help on this subject.

A friend of mine has found their late grandfathers members record card of contributions. It shows total contributions of £52.00. The address of the MUIOOF branch is "Pride of the Valley Lodge" Reg No 8075, Longparish, Andover, Hants. This address no longer exists. Is there any way that these contributions may be reclaimed and may they have accrued interest?
