I checked with our resident "masonic guru" and he said there is only one Ansar Shrine and it is in Springfield, IL. That doesn't always mean you father lived in Springfield. My husband belongs to a Shrine that is 125 miles from where we live, but it is the closest one to us.
When you contact the IL Grand Lodge, you will want to contact the Grand Secretary.
Where did your father die? Did he belong to a local lodge? The grand lodge in that state may also have information on his affiliations.
Here is the site for Shriners International: http://www.shrinershq.org/ They may have information on which shrine groups he belonged to and where they were.
Good luck! If there is anything I can do to help, please let me know.
Best regards,
Carol
