Through research of the Civil War Pension Files of William Thomas Wilson, I have partially uncovered one of our familys mysteries. Thomas Wilson was raised by his grandfather William Wilson near Beech Fork. He was born there 12-22-1844. About 1860 they removed to within 10 miles of Jacksboro. Further research places William, wife Margaret, Peggy Ann age15 (said to be the child of Henry Wilson, 1st wife of Thomas Marlow Jr.), and Thomas age 7 in Anderson County. Within the file is an affadavit from Thomas Marlow Jr. b. 1836. His statement is that Thomas Wilson is the child of his sister. I have found that there were two older sisters of Thomas Marlow that fit. Elizabeth born before 1827, who married Thomas Phillips on 4-28-1852 and Jean "Jennie" b. 6-10-1827, who married Clark Patterson, 9-23-1949. If anyone can help me to identify which of these women is the mother of Thomas Wilson I would greatly appreciate the help.
There are other things in this file that help identify at least one son of William Wilson b. 1796 in NC and died 1884 in Anderson Co. He is buried in the Wilson #1 Cemetery. James Wilson, who married Dorcus (Dorcas) Lovely was a son of William Wilson b. 1796. I obtained this information from affadavits of Isreal Wilson b. 1842 and James b. 1846. Both men were children of James Wilson b. 1812 and Dorcus. Both men state that Thomas Wilson is their first cousin. If anyone has additional information on the sons of William Wilson I would love to know who they were. One of them is William Thomas Wilson's father. I have searched for a will for William Wilson in Anderson and Campbell County, but have not found one.
Thank you, Debbie Wilson Fehr
