My name is Toni (Antonietta) I was born in Roseto and came to Canada when I was 6 years old.My father was the late Michele Romano (Marinello) he came to Canada before my mother and I did in 1954. We came in 1959. My mother is still living and her name is Filomena Confalone-Romano.Last year we visited Roseto for the first time,my mom and I had been to Italy many times before but we had never visited our beautiful little village. My husband Neil who is British (born in Sheffield ,England)came with us and we had a marvelous time.My mom found it to be surreal to be back there and to run into people she had not seen for 47 years. For me it brought back so many memories of my formative years in Roseto,I literally knew my way around everywhere. And My husband found it to be a fascinating way of life, one so different from his own.He spent many a morning jogging up those steep streets in the heat and everyone knew who he was,a six foot four blond blue-eyed man is hard to miss.Neil and my mom would start their day with an espresso and a cornetto at Bar Italia everyday and then we would either explore the village ,take a tour with other paesanos, visit family or friends or go to the beach.Definitely LA DOLCE VITA!We are looking to return this summer once again, and we can't wait. I always loved listening to all the stories my mom and dad would tell me about Roseto through the years so it always stayed near and dear to my heart, but since we went last year more nostalgia has entered my heart and it has reawakened something even stronger in me.

We are interested in your story.
Contacting Roseto V.F.

Our family is spread out between Bethlehem, Bangor, and Roseto, Pennsylvania. I made my first trip to Italy when I was 19, and I had gotten in contact with our relative Stephano DeCesare in Roseto Valfatore, but that was over 6 years ago. Since then, I have been to Italy on one other occasion 4 years ago, but I was unable to contact him successfully. Is there anyone that knows how his family is doing and how to get in contact with them before my next trip in 2009?

Grazie.

My grandmother was Anna Davanzo, daughter of Filomena and Fausto Davanzo. I want to make a mural painting and it will include the phrase "strenght through faith". I know how to say it in "book italian" which is Forza da Fede. It would mean alot more to me if I could find out how to say it the way my nonna would have said it. Can anyone help?
