Hello again,
When you say 'always claimed' to have been born in Maltby, do mean on censuses she consistently gave her birth place as Maltby?. Did her sibs also give Maltby as their birthplace? If so, I would suggest that your Elizabeth could be one of my Maltby Ridgways. I guess she could have baptised late (though I think this was probably unusual for the time) in Manchester, and her father was named although he was dead. Note that the 1826 death of a Thomas Ridgway in Maltby is not absolutely certain to be the husband of Ann Markham- I assumed it was him because the age fitted and the only other Thomas Ridgway I knew of in the Maltby area at that time was alive at the time of the 1841 census.
