"What we know" is in the eye of the beholder.
Some people think they "know" their ancestry because it was posted on the web in some gedcom file. Of these, around 99.99% are not fact-based using evidence from primary records, but are lifted from some newsletter, article, book, or other gedcom.
A lot of people still believe that if some assertion is published, it is true.
All hogwash. Like any published source, Wikipedia entries need to be fact-checked. Then one can cite the actual evidence, rather than the wiki item.
