Samuel Tate and son Robert Tate were among the volunteers from western NC (which later became eastern TN) serving under John Sevier at the Battle of Kings Mountain. Samuel was born about 1735 (location unknown) and died about 1812 in Clairborne County TN. The SAR Index III contains an application entry for Samuel Tate 1730-1813 and I'm wondering if someone based their application on him or another of the same name. If anyone has the SAR Index III and could lookup the information, I would certainly appreciate it. [P.S. Samuel's son Robert had no children that we've yet found, however sons John (by wife Dorcas) and son Samuel (by wife Amey, widow of James Burke) did have children.
